The Surreal Dallol & Danakil Depression
The Danakil Depression is one of the lowest, hottest, and most geologically active places on Earth. Located in the Afar region, it sits more than 100 meters below sea level and features a surreal landscape of sulfur springs, active lava lakes, and vast salt plains.
Dallol, within the depression, resembles an alien planet with bubbling springs of acid, neon-yellow and green sulfur pools, and bizarre salt formations. Nearby is Erta Ale, a continuously active shield volcano famous for its bubbling, glowing red lava lake.
For daring explorers seeking raw, extreme natural beauty, the Danakil offers an unforgettable expedition into the geological forces that shape our world.
